CIREBA HELPS THE HUMANE SOCIETIES SPAY AND NEUTER PROGRAMME

CIHS recognizes that many members of the community are unable to afford to have their pets spayed or neutered. As a remedy to this situation, CIHS opened the community spay and Neuter clinic in 2006. In May this year, Cost U Less partnered with CIHS and offered a four day incentive, giving a $50.00 voucher from Cost U Less for every pet spayed or neutered. In total, 52 dogs and cats were spayed/neutered during the incentive period. CIHS deemed this one of their most successful spay and neuter events.

Terrie Farrington, Shelter Executive Administrator at CIHS said,

The initiative also gave staff at the shelter the opportunity to educate community members on heartworm, ticks and fleas and how they seriously affect their pet’s health.

Jeanette Totten, President of CIREBA, said,

CIREBA is pleased to contribute to the Spay and Neuter Initiative. This excellent programme helps many pet owners in our community take care of their animals and helps to prevent the over population of stray and abandoned animals on our island.

Farrington said,

We are extremely grateful for the donation of $1114.00 handed to us by Jeanette Totten and her team from CIREBA. This support is most appreciated and we look forward to being in a position to open the spay /neuter initiative to the community in the near future.
