Mr. Bissell made tremendous contributions in the development and creation of some of the architectural styles seen today in the Cayman Islands. Arriving in Cayman in the early 1970’s and working for Onions Bouchard & McCulloch (OBM), leading the development of such complexes as Lime Tree Bay, West Wind Building, Villas of the Galleon, Plantana, Genesis Building and the Retreat, just to mention a few. A steadfast defender of Caribbean design values, Bill provided design & development leadership here in the Caymans and throughout the Caribbean by introducing modern design with a Caribbean flair. Mr. Bissell added further support to the development of the Cayman Islands by being an outstanding supporter of the Urban Land Institute, the Caribbean Hotel Association, the Caribbean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism and the Caribbean-Britain Business Council. In all of these organizations, Bill was a key player who was highly instrumental to their continued expansion and success. He was also a driving force behind the success of the Cayman’s Community College, now known as University College. His contributions to the Cayman Islands is immeasurable and the gratitude that Cayman Islands Real Estate Association is abundant.
